The model changes CPF rates from the month after a 55th, 60th, 65th or 70th birthday and counts the bonus in its selected payment month. Benefits-in-kind, relief eligibility, residence status, PR transition rates and payroll rounding can still change the result. Employer CPF is never deducted from contractual cash salary.

A useful way through this page

  1. Start with contractual cash salary and dependable bonus, not a national average.
  2. Estimate employee CPF and annual income tax on the matching assumptions.
  3. Compare offers only after hours, leave and pay definitions are aligned.

The useful official number is not always the biggest

The latest full-year figure available in 2026 puts median gross monthly income from work of full-time employed residents at S$5,775 in 2025. Half earned more and half less. It covers citizens and PRs working at least 35 hours a week and includes employer CPF.

That S$5,775 is therefore not a typical bank credit and not the number to type above. Use contractual cash salary from the payslip. A separate 2025 average monthly nominal earnings figure is S$7,198 per employee. It is a mean pulled up by higher earners and comes from a series including full- and part-time employees with CPF contributions while excluding employer CPF. The figures answer different questions.

Nominal gross monthly income from work for full-time employed residents, including employer CPF. This is not bank take-home pay and does not predict an individual’s salary.

These are nominal amounts. MOM reported 2024–2025 median growth of 5.0% nominal and 4.1% after inflation. The 2025 breakdown was S$6,000 for men and S$5,460 for women. There is no full-year 2026 median yet; the page date is not the data period.

What “gross salary” means here

For the calculator, gross cash salary is pay before employee CPF and income tax. Enter bonus separately because CPF treats Additional Wages differently. The national median has a broader “income from work” definition: basic pay, overtime, commissions, tips, allowances, one-twelfth of annual bonuses and employer CPF for employees; average monthly profit before tax for the self-employed.

Definitions come before comparison. A recruiter may quote annual salary including a discretionary bonus, while a payslip shows dependable monthly cash. Dividing the former by 12 can overstate the latter.

From gross pay to take-home

For a citizen or third-year PR aged 55 or below, employee CPF is 20% and employer CPF 17% on CPF-applicable wages. The 2026 monthly Ordinary Wage ceiling is S$8,000. Bonuses can attract Additional Wage CPF subject to an annual ceiling of S$102,000 less CPF-subject OW already paid.

At the default S$5,000 monthly cash salary, employee CPF is about S$12,000 a year. After that and S$1,000 Earned Income Relief, estimated chargeable income is S$47,000; resident tax is S$1,040, giving average estimated take-home near S$3,913 a month. Income tax is assessed annually, not normally withheld as a standard payroll tax.

Is there a minimum wage in Singapore?

Singapore has no single universal statutory minimum wage. The Local Qualifying Salary is currently S$1,800 gross a month for a full-time local employee working 35–44 hours a week, or S$10.50 an hour for a part-time local below 35 hours. It is a workforce condition for firms employing foreign workers, not a universal wage floor.

The Progressive Wage Model separately sets wage and training requirements for covered sectors and occupations. The applicable minimum depends on role, duties, sector, hours and effective date; use MOM’s current sector page for a real case.

Compare offers on the same basis

Separate monthly basic salary, fixed allowances, expected variable pay, employee CPF and employer CPF. Then add contractual hours and paid leave. A higher monthly number can be worse hourly; a lower cash number can have more dependable benefits.

A five-line comparison is often enough

Put guaranteed monthly cash, fixed allowances and dependable bonus on separate lines. Keep discretionary bonus separate. Add employer CPF only when comparing total employment cost, not bank take-home. Then compare contracted hours and paid leave.

For statutory rights such as overtime, annual leave and notice, use the employment, work and pay guide. A national median cannot price one job because occupation, seniority, industry, hours, company size and variable pay all matter.

Methodology and update policy

Median history comes from SingStat M182981 and MOM’s Labour Force in Singapore 2025. Mean earnings come from M182941. The series are never spliced. CPF uses rates from 1 January 2026 and the S$8,000 OW ceiling. Tax uses current resident brackets, mandatory employee CPF Relief, age-based Earned Income Relief and only user-entered other reliefs.

Review follows the next MOM labour-force release and every CPF or IRAS rate change. The visible date, data period, calculator constants, examples and tests must change together.
