Purpose and scope
Singapore Money Guide is an independent reference publication about money, work, business, investing and the financial side of everyday life in Singapore. It explains general information; it does not provide personalised legal, tax, investment or financial advice.
A page is not published merely because a phrase attracts searches. It must answer a coherent reader question, expose the important assumptions, or make a difficult official process easier to understand.
Source hierarchy
For laws, government programmes, taxes, transport rules and regulated financial matters, primary Singapore sources come first: legislation, regulators, ministries, statutory boards and official data portals. Commercial prices use identifiable provider information and a visible date where relevant. Secondary reporting is used for context, not as a substitute for the governing source.
Sources are linked at the point of use or collected at the foot of an article. Dynamic values are either dated clearly or left as editable calculator inputs when a static number would become misleading.
Research and review
- Define the actual decision or question the page should help with.
- Collect authoritative sources and record the rules, dates and exceptions.
- Write a reader-first explanation, calculation or checklist.
- Check arithmetic, links, internal consistency and potentially misleading wording.
- Display the completed fact-check date and identify figures that may need another review.
Illustrative examples are labelled as such. They are designed to make a method inspectable, not to imply that every reader will pay the same amount.
Use of drafting and research tools
Editors may use software-assisted research, drafting, calculation and quality checks. Tools do not decide what gets published. A responsible editor remains accountable for the scope, source selection, factual claims, calculations, tone and final wording.
We do not mass-publish unreviewed pages, pad articles to hit a word count, or create near-duplicate pages for minor keyword variations.
Images and attribution
Editorial photographs provide place or subject context; they are not evidence for a price, rate, entitlement or investment outcome. Each externally sourced photograph is credited at the point of use with its author, source page and reuse licence. Resizing and responsive display crops are disclosed in the caption.
A photograph of a building, public system or institution does not indicate affiliation, endorsement or a commercial relationship. Images are not used as links to applications, accounts, quotations or transactions.
Commercial separation
This publication currently accepts no sponsored placements, affiliate commissions or referral fees. It does not sell, recommend or arrange financial products or services. Advertising traffic does not affect editorial conclusions, source selection or calculator outputs.
The publication is not affiliated with Singapore government agencies, regulators, transport authorities or financial providers. A link to an organisation is not an endorsement.
Updates and corrections
Review priority follows the subject’s rate of change and reported corrections. A visible fact-check date records a completed review, not an automatic update schedule. Material corrections should amend the affected passage and its review record. Broken source links are replaced with an authoritative equivalent without silently changing the meaning of the claim.
Send a source-backed correction through Contact and corrections. The publication information identifies the responsible operator.
The publication’s page code has no reader account creation, lead form, analytics tag, advertising tracker or transaction flow. Calculator inputs remain in the browser and are not transmitted or stored by the publication. The privacy notice describes hosting traffic, administration and correspondence separately.
