Ordinary currency conversion only

This guide does not cover leveraged foreign-exchange trading, rolling-spot forex, contracts for difference, signals or investment products. It does not exchange or transmit money or obtain an executable quote.

A useful way through this page

  1. Choose the exact currency direction and amount.
  2. Enter the rate and every fee from the quote in front of you.
  3. Compare the final amount received, then check timing and cancellation terms.

How to read a currency pair

If SGD/MYR is 3.18791, one Singapore dollar corresponds to 3.18791 Malaysian ringgit at the reference. The inverse MYR/SGD is about 0.31368. Before deciding one quote is better, confirm both providers show the pair in the same direction.

A money changer’s “buy” and “sell” columns are usually from the dealer’s perspective. When you buy ringgit for a trip, the dealer sells MYR. When you hand over ringgit and receive SGD, the dealer buys MYR.

Compare the amount received, not the advertised rate

At the sample inputs, the S$1,000 reference conversion is RM3,187.91. A provider rate of 3.1500 with a S$5 sending fee produces RM3,134.25. The RM53.66 gap is about 1.68% of the reference result. This combines the rate difference and disclosed fee in one comparable number.

The same method works for remittances. Include a sending fee and any known receiving deduction, then compare the amount reaching the recipient. Also check delivery time, cancellation rules and whether a quote is guaranteed or merely indicative.

Why SGD is not managed against USD alone

Singapore’s monetary policy is centred on the Singapore dollar nominal effective exchange rate, or S$NEER. It is a trade-weighted basket, not a peg to one currency. MAS manages it within a policy band; exact currencies, weights and band are not disclosed.

USD/SGD can therefore move even while the broader trade-weighted Singapore dollar remains consistent with the policy stance. A change in one pair may reflect the other currency as much as Singapore.

SGD per US dollar. The 2021–2025 bars are Federal Reserve annual averages; 3 September 2026 is one ECB-derived daily reference and is deliberately labelled separately.

A lower SGD-per-USD figure means fewer Singapore dollars are required for one US dollar. The daily 2026 snapshot is not directly comparable with a full-year average and predicts nothing.

How this page is maintained

ECB expresses each published currency as units per euro. EUR is set to 1 and a cross-rate is target units divided by source units. The ECB normally determines reference rates around 14:10 CET and publishes them around 16:00 CET on TARGET operating days; it describes them as information-only and discourages transaction use. The source date remains visible on weekends and holidays rather than presenting an old working-day rate as new.

MAS publishes a separate exchange-rate table based on average buying and selling interbank rates quoted around midday in Singapore; it can differ from both ECB and dealer quotes. We link to it without scraping restricted underlying data. This page ranks no provider, takes no paid placement and earns no currency transaction commission.
