Reading pages and using calculators

Calculator values are processed in your browser. The page code does not send those values to a server, put them in the page address or save them in cookies, local storage or session storage. Your browser may independently retain page state or restore form values according to its own settings.

Articles, photographs, scripts and styles are delivered as website files. The publication has no reader accounts, comment forms, newsletter signup or advertising pixel. Cloudflare adds its Web Analytics script when delivering pages, as described below. Loading an article does not embed a social feed, video player or externally hosted font.

Hosting and technical traffic data

A website request still passes through hosting and delivery infrastructure. Providers can process technical data such as IP addresses, requested URLs, browser information and traffic or error records to deliver pages and handle security and reliability.

The website is hosted on a VPS administered by the publication through its own management panel. Server access and error records are separate from calculator inputs. Infrastructure used for delivery includes:

  • Cloudflare — public HTTPS access, traffic delivery and security through Cloudflare Tunnel. Privacy policy.

Cloudflare Web Analytics is enabled for this website. Its JavaScript beacon measures page views and page-load performance, including browser timing metrics. The script loads from static.cloudflareinsights.com and reports measurements through this domain’s /cdn-cgi/rum endpoint. Our calculator code does not send entered values or calculation events to this service. See Cloudflare’s Web Analytics overview and data collection documentation.

Provider-controlled security mechanisms operate separately from our calculator code. Provider policies describe their processing, retention and international operations. Technical traffic data can be logged and processed outside Singapore.

WordPress administrator accounts are used to maintain the publication. Their sign-in and security records are separate from reading public articles, which does not require a reader account.

When you contact us

If you email, telephone or write to the publication, the operator receives the contact details and information you share in that enquiry. These are used to answer it, investigate a correction or technical issue, or handle your privacy request. Sending a correction does not subscribe you to marketing.

Email and telecommunications providers process communications as part of their services. Share only what is needed for the enquiry. We may ask for proportionate verification before disclosing personal information in response to a request.

Retention and sharing

Correspondence is kept for the time needed to resolve the enquiry, maintain an appropriate record and meet applicable legal requirements. Personal details should be removed when those purposes no longer require them. A published correction can retain the corrected fact without publishing the sender’s name or email address.

Information may be handled by the providers needed to deliver the website and email, or disclosed where required by law. This publication has no sale of visitor data or sharing of calculator inputs with financial providers. Retention by infrastructure providers is governed by their applicable arrangements; it is not the same as retention of correspondence by the operator.

Privacy requests and changes

Contact the privacy address above to ask about personal information held by the operator, request access or a correction, raise a concern, or withdraw consent where processing relies on it. The response will take account of applicable law and any permitted exceptions. Calculator inputs cannot be retrieved by the operator because the page does not send them.

Material changes to data use should be reflected here before a new feature begins processing data. Cloudflare Web Analytics is part of the current configuration; additional analytics or advertising technologies would require an updated notice and any applicable choices.
